I have been enjoying Good to Eat since their start at the brewery as a pop up. The food there was consistently incredible for a brewery pop up, and the service was friendly and kind even through masks. After taking a peek in the kitchen, it was wild to see that such high end food was coming from a room with folding tables, a fridge, electric hook ups, and immense skill empowered by big dreams. Since opening in emeryville, Angie and Tony have created a space with an exceptional sense of service, purpose, and self with an atmosphere of full welcome and deep appreciation for guests. I relish tasting dishes I have had 5+ times and noting the small tweaks and changes as they continue to refine their vision. As I leave the bay for the east coast, GoodToEat will be among my cherished last stops to thank Angie and Tony for what I have learned about Taiwan, for creating a sense of home even for those of us without ties to the country, and for sharing such thoughtful experiences around flavor. Many cheers to you and continued success in these hard times, to a team fueled by passion, humble pride, and love for hospitality.

We came here on a double date and everyone was super impressed! I was so happy with how many vegan options they had, nice selection of beers and drinks, cool desserts. They constantly change their menu so it will always be something new to try! The patio space is so beautiful.

With a regularly updated pan-Chinese menu, the Numbing Fried Chicken stands up to this fashionable Taiwanese restaurant’s namesake. Thigh meat, well-battered and fried, with a flavor-packed dipping sauce that draws more from the numbing than spicy quality of ma la seasoning. Great for groups paying Dutch as orders are taken at the counter. Excellent option when in West Berkeley.

Don't miss it on this place if you are in the area. AND don't skip the desert. Best cheese cake ever. Very friendly service and energetic atmosphere.

Definitely a meal you will not forget! Tons of vegetarian options that will make your mouth water. Great balance of sweet and spicy. The oyster mushrooms are by far one of the best mushroom dishes I have ever had and the kimchi is amazing. The owners and staff will take moments to talk about the dish or two, that personal touch really make it feel special and you can tell how much they care about their craft. Definitely don’t pass this place up!

Visited around 5:30 PM on a Thursday. The place had a good crowd inside, but I found the outdoor seating with heaters more appealing due to the chilly weather. The order-at-the-counter system was efficient. I went for a variety of dishes: dumplings, the day's vegetable special, cheesecake, fried chicken, eggplant noodles, and almond tea. The food quality was impressive. Everything tasted fresh, and dishes marked as spicy had the right kick. The fried chicken was a highlight, especially with its unique, house-fermented vegetable side. What stood out was the front-of-house service - professional, attentive, and genuinely kind, which isn't something you find everywhere. The cheesecake was light and flavorful, a must-try. The fried chicken, juicy and well-seasoned, was another winner. I'd happily order both again. The prices are a bit high, and portions are more on the small side, but the overall quality makes it worth a return visit. This might be one of the top Taiwanese restaurants I've been to.

Everything was so good. The wait was not super long when we got here at 8pm on a Friday night. They even let us order some drinks and wait in the waiting area with fire pits. Food was phenomenal, even as simple as the yam leaves stir fry. I'll come back!

My favorite are the standing classics of the pepper numbing chicken ($22) with their special sauce which I always say they should bottle and sell . And the spicy GTE noodle for $9. I’ve come here since they first opened and these dishes are consistently always tasty. And cost effective and huge Return on value! They have new dishes they often debut and rotate so you have to decide if you want to experiment. Sometimes they aren’t always to my taste but some are wonderful. The owners and staff are always so kind and friendly and lovely. It’s very relaxing to come here and eat!

I’m Taiwanese and tbh this place isn’t the most authentic, but it totally has those Taiwanese food vibes (everything looks pretty plain but packs a lot of flavor, and those sweet and savory dishes). I really enjoyed everything and would for sure come back! Special shoutout to the fu-ru fried chicken—so good 🤤🤤🤤

The food, the ambiance, the service and the plates were are top notch. They had an amazing selection of beers and sake. We opted for non alcoholic beverages and the teas and drinks were very good. I was especially happy with the special of the day which was tempura with fennel, radish and nardello peppers. The dessert needed work and was not to the level of the savory dishes.
